Emily M. Newsome

Ms. Newsome graduated from the University of Georgia in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Sociology. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2014, where she was a member of the Moot Court Team.

Following law school, Ms. Newsome clerked for Superior Court Judges in the Cordele Judicial Circuit. Prior to joining Hamilton, Westby, Antonowich & Anderson, Ms. Newsome practiced criminal defense and family law for six years in Covington, Georgia. Ms. Newsome served as President of the Newton County Bar Association from 2017-2020 and was named a 40 Under 40 Honoree from the Covington News in 2020.

Ms. Newsome is admitted to practice before the Court of Appeals of Georgia and the Supreme Court of Georgia as well as the Northern and Middle District Federal Courts of Georgia. Emily focuses her practice on defending Employers and Insurers in workers’ compensation claims.

Outside of work, Ms. Newsome enjoys spending time with her husband and daughters, hiking, spending time with family on Lake Hartwell, and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs.
